How to Prepare Your Concrete for Cleaning?
Tips from Your Friendly Concrete Driveway Constructor.
Cleaning your concrete driveway is a difficult process, and you need to prepare for it in the right way. Before the concrete cleaning process starts, you need to ensure that you have the following items:
- Broom
- Dustpan
- Mop
- Bucket
- Scrub Brush (not metallic)
- Spray bottle
- Gloves
- Cat litter
You need to take into consideration the size of the stain and how much of your concrete surface needs cleaning, as you might not need everything. If you don’t have excess liquid on the concrete surface and you are just doing a standard cleaning, you can sweep the area of any loose debris before using the cleaning methods below.
If there is some standing liquid on your concrete (such as grease, oil, wine, etc.), you can pour cat litter over the liquid and then allow it to soak up the excess liquid for about 30 minutes. If you don’t have cat litter, then you can use baking soda, as it will also help to absorb the extra moisture.
Once the liquid has been soaked up, sweep the litter or baking soda. Then your concrete is ready to be cleaned.
Be sure NOT to use a metallic scrub brush as these brushes can leave behind metal bits that can rust and stain your concrete. Contact Rogers Stone and get complete solutions for concrete driveway maintenance.
